What's your vision?
The novel is a thriller called ‘Stolen’. The story revolves around an audacious bank heist, set against the backdrop of the 2008 financial crisis. It explores the motives, desires and conflicts of those involved in the heist, either willingly or unwillingly, examining the psyche of those unafraid to break the rules to take what they want. Through the characters it reveals the greed, fears and self-deceptions latent in so many of us, and how the lies we tell ourselves can be just as powerful and profound as the lies we tell each other. Cover design idea: Title at top – Stolen; author’s name at bottom – Kess Goldland. Main image (left hand side to central) – Suggestion of a beautiful woman (face/torso) wearing a gold/ivory Venetian masquerade mask (mask around eyes/top of cheeks) with key parts (face mainly) being revealed from the dark/black background. Lower down should be the suggestion of a gun barrel with a silencer (implication is that the woman is holding the gun). The face should be striking; the eyes particularly striking. The attached image isn’t right in many ways (mask covers too much of the face; skin is cracked etc), but it is evocative of the feel – face is striking but not fully revealed from the background, creating a sense of intrigue and mystery. In the background should be the suggestion of a city skyline – gold and silver skyscrapers. Key words for the feel/atmosphere to evoke: intrigue, danger, enticing, desirable, deception, wealth, illusion, opulence.
