Check out Anders T Bjorvand's Book cover contest…
I am an author writing a book called "Bygge Guds Rike". This is a Norwegian title, and it means roughly "Building God´s Kingdom" or "Bringing the Kingdom of God".
What's your vision?
The book cover will have a front, a spine and a back. We will not have a dust cover. The cover will be in full color. The front of the book: - It will have some kind of design/illustration/painting/photo. - Title: "Bygge Guds Rike" - Subtitle: "- å være kristen på arbeidsplassen" (English: being a Christian in the workplace) - It will show my name as author: "Anders Torvill Bjorvand" The spine of the book: - Title: "Bygge Guds Rike" - It will show my name as author: "Anders Torvill Bjorvand" The back of the book: - A 100 word synopsis - three 15-word recommendations - with the name of the person recommending - Place for ISBN/Bar code - the URL of the book: www.byggegudsrike.no We will likely have the name of the publisher on the front and back, as well as their logo on the spine. However, I am a free agent and haven´t decided on publishers yet. I might actually have several as the book will be in multiple formats and languages. Since I am an award winning author, I have some leverage with the publishers, and I want artistic control of everything. That´s why I am getting the book designed independently of the publisher. But eventually, we need some room at the bottom for those publisher logos. And then a little about the contents of the book so that you can get a deeper understanding of the project. This book is all about redeeming work in a Biblical, evangelical Christian understanding. For way too long, work and labour has been viewed as separate from ministry or worship, and not nearly as dignified or noble. This is not Biblical, and this book wants to shift this paradigm and give every Christian back their identity of working as unto the Lord whether they are in church/missions, or business, education, government, entertainment, media, law etc. In the very beginning of the Bible, God shows who He is by working for 6 days in order to create the world. On the 7th day, He rests. Not because He needs it, but to model it so that we can learn that work requires rest. For some strange reason, the Church has ended with focusing on the day of rest. The Bible, however, focused more on how God creates. And when he puts Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, He says that their purpose is to work there. And this is before sin entered the world. Working in the garden alongside our heavenly father is how true worship looks like. God is not only the great creator. He is also the great cultivator. Even though He started out creating out of nothing, he ends up with the Bible culminating in a city - the New Jerusalem - coming down from heaven. God rebuked mankind and tore down the great tower of Babel, because man did it all on his own and tried to establish independence from God - which is what original sin also was all about. God wants to partner with us in all walks of life and work alongside us so that we may bring Him closer to all people - on earth as it is in heaven - glimpses of the coming, new Jerusalem.
