99designs Cafe is back again! This time in Surabaya at the awesome Stilrod Cafe. With a charming British theme, the cafe was a spacious and cosy gem in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city.
This month’s event focused on typography. The talk was presented by Kak Ani (“Kak” means “Big Sis”), who is an experienced visual communication lecturer at Petra Christian University in Surabaya. Our keen 99designers learned how to create fonts using free source programs, such as fontstruct.
In celebration of Indonesia’s recent 69th Independence Day on the August 17th, Kak Ani encouraged us all to create fonts with traditional influences.

Afterwards, we were joined by our very own Top Level designers, Vall One & Artpossible. The two spoke about their design process and gave some of their best tips and tricks for participating in contests.

A big thank you goes to these special people
Without them, this event wouldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did. They’re so passionate that they’re already anticipating and discussing our next 99designs Cafe events!
